For traditional seaside fun you can’t beat nearby Clacton-on-Sea or head for sleepy Flatford, home to the great artist John Constable. Explore Beth Chatto Gardens where you can bring a picnic and enjoy these fantastic ecological gardens or visit the historical Harwich Low Lighthouse, which marks the end of The Essex Way and is now a Maritime Museum.
